Just as it appeared that Manchester City had their full squad available, they came out of yesterday’s 2-nil win over Nottingham Forest with a fresh injury concern. Ederson had to be substituted at half-time of City’s crucial win due to a shoulder injury. It looms as another injury blow for Pep Guardiola’s side as they seek a Premier League/FA Cup double this season.

City’s number one keeper went down with a shoulder injury in the early stages of yesterday’s win. Ederson suffered the injury after being on the receiving end of a challenge from Willy Boly. He soldiered on to complete the first half. Stefan Ortega replaced Ederson in goal at half-time of City’s win. Following his team’s hard fought win, the Brazilian international was seen leaving the City Ground with his arm in a sling.

Speaking post game Pep Guardiola revealed that the injury prognosis for Ederson doesn’t look good. He told the media: “It doesn’t look good. We see tomorrow with the doctor.”

There was also a blow for the champions before the game with Phil Foden and Ruben Dias, both ruled out of yesterday’s game with illness. The hope now is that given a week between games for City, the pair can recover for next weekend’s clash with Wolves.

It had appeared that Manchester City had their full squad back in the build-up to yesterday’s game. With Erling Haaland returning from a muscle injury, City looked to be at full strength for the run home.

Ederson’s injury is yet another injury setback for the champions. Manchester City will now be hoping for a positive update on the shoulder injury suffered by their number one keeper.
